Tierra Prometida Alpaca Ranch is located about 15 miles west of San Marcos, TX on Ranch Road 32 between Austin and San Antonio. The ranch is situated on a winding, scenic ridge known locally as The Devil's Backbone. Tierra Prometida is Spanish for "Promised Land" and the property is a haven for a rich variety of trees and birds. Tierra Prometida Alpacas is the oldest and most experienced alpaca ranch originally established in the Texas Hill Country in 1997. We have learned to deal with the challenges (e.g. the heat) and the blessings (e.g. the mild winters) of this particular environment and enjoy sharing our experience and knowledge of alpacas with other breeders and alpaca enthusiasts.Our mission and our passion at Tierra Prometida Alpacas is two-fold. It is and has always been to develop an exceptional herd of registered alpaca that exhibits elite characteristics in conformation, fleece, and temperament. We have found that showing our alpacas on a nationally competitive level is a useful measuring stick for objectively assessing our breeding program in a world that is always raising the bar for excellence. But we are also passionate about the health and well being of alpacas and are dedicated to the education of new breeders and the public through our ranch tours and cooperative seminars.We have a herd that is entirely huacaya and consists of about 90 alpacas. We own or co-own several world class herdsires, including: TP Matrix Jubilee, Snow Diamond Perfect Storm, High Plains Tornado's Torrific, Irish Meadows' Endgame and Irish Meadows' Raider, among others.If you find yourself in Central Texas, PLEASE give us a call and schedule a visit with our alpacas and our farm store . We are proud to announce our newest herd sire: Irish Meadows' Raider. He is a stunning beige son of Irish Meadows' Elite Max. HE has settled his first females and will be open for limited breedings beginning in November.
We can offer flexible/creative financing options. Generally we will accept 25% down and offer prime plus 1% on interest for payments. Anything paid in full before 6 months will be interest free. For purchases over $10,000 we will finance over 1-4 years.
