Jarrah (aka Mickey) made his debut in the show ring at 9 months of age, and what an impression he made! Thought to be brown and white when he was born, he has developed into a stunning dark rose grey. Judge Diana Timmerman remarked that Jarrah had the brightest fleece in the class with excellent handle. She was surprised by how uniform his coloring was and felt that he had good substance of bone. Jarrah took a respectable third place in a very competitive class of eleven. His competitors were a veritable who's who of the alpaca industry. We are very excited to see what Jarrah's future in both the show ring and in our breeding program will bring.
Jarrah's dam, Akiko, is also an exceptional rose grey and a vital part of our foundation herd at Blowing Oaks Ranch. Akiko is out of Oakhill's Indiana Jones, who has extensive Peruvian bloodlines on both his dam and sire's pedigree. Indy is a farm favorite at Morning Moon Alpacas; not only for the quality offspring that he throws, but for his friendly disposition. A trait that Jarrah appears to have inherited as well.
Jarrah's sire is HC Resolute Salute. Salute is the alpaca that everyone dreams of having on their farm. He has been a show stopper since the beginning winning 2 Reserve Color Champions as a juvi and Color Champion as a yearling. He has extremely fine fleece with matchstick staples and high frequency crimp. Judges comment on his consistency from top knot to his back hocks and the extreme character his fleece demonstrates. In addition, he earns extra points for good substance of bone and conformation.
Jarrah's offspring include: a Dark Silver Grey male, Medium Rose Grey female, a White female, a Medium Bown male and an appaloosa female with many more on the way..
